Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Edmund Ho Hau Wah will light the flame for the Macao 2005 East Asian Games (EAG) to start the torch-relay for the event on October 29.

Manuel Silverio, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the fourth EAG, said Wednesday that the flame-lighting ceremony and the ensuing torch relay activity for the EAG will take a scene in front of Macao's most historical landmark, the A-Ma Temple Square, which will start the one-year countdown of the biggest sports event to be held in Macao next year.

Silverio said that the flame-lighting ceremony will be followed by the Drunken Dragon Dance performance by the Macao Fish Sellers' Association.

Famous athletes from East Asian countries and regions, including two Athens Olympic champions from China, female judoka Xian Dongmei and female diver Lao Lishi, will participate in the torch relay.

The Organizing Committee of the 4th EAG will stage a grand ceremony to launch the Countdown Clock of the EAG at the Golden Lotus Square, which will be the end-point of the torch relay.
