Former Chinese vice premier Gu Mu dies at 96

Former Chinese Vice Premier Gu Mu died of illness Friday afternoon. He was 96.

Gu also served as a state councilor and vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top political advisory body.

While in office, Gu was mainly in charge of the country's economic construction during the 1970s and 1980s.
