Zimbabwe''s top female tennis player Black and her South African partner Liezel Huber on Sunday won the Wimbledon women''s doubles title after beating Ai Suigiyama of Japan and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia in the final at the All England Club.
According to The Herald on Monday, Black and Huber, who were seeded second, rallied to beat the fourth seeds 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to take their second Wimbledon doubles in two years. The Southern African tandem first won the women''s doubles title at Wimbledon in 2005 before adding another crown on Sunday. Sunday''s win saw Black and Huber claiming their second Grand Slam title of the year after their success at the Australian Open in Melbourne earlier in the year. The 2005 champions started badly yesterday when they lost only their second set at this year''s championship as they went down 3-6 after 42 minutes of play in the first set.
The only other time that Black and Huber had dropped a set at this year''s championship was in the semi-finals on Saturday when they beat Alicia Molik of Australia and Mara Santangelo of Italy, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
